The Board has an approved registration standard Granting general registration to medical practitioners who hold an Australian Medical Council certificate that defines the requirements for granting general registration to Australian Medical Council (AMC) certificate holders.
General registration may be granted to AMC certificate holders in the standard pathway who have completed a period of approved supervised practice in Australia. The Board has developed guidance on the documentary evidence to support an application for general registration - Evidence of supervised practice to support applications for general registration from AMC certificate holders.
If you hold provisional registration, you can apply for general registration online.
All other applications forms are available on the Forms page.
If you have previously been, or are currently registered in a health profession in Australia under the National Scheme and have therefore provided information to a Board previously, some of the documentation requirements for registration may be waived. In most cases, the application forms indicate whether a requirement or document is waived.
All documents submitted to support an application for registration must comply with our requirements for certifying and translating documents.
You may be required to submit additional information in support of your application to help the Board determine whether you are suitable for general registration.
